This corresponds with a Japanese sharpening stone of approx. J500 Japanese grit. This grain size provides you with quick results and a very sharp edge. The sharpening steels are enhanced with a layer of monocrystalline, synthetic diamonds. Monocrystalline means that each diamond is comprised of one crystal. Unlike polycrystalline diamonds, monocrystalline diamond does not wear out as fast. As such it is great for a sharpening steel! ## How to use DMT Diamond Cone Kit It’s also good to know that a diamond-coated sharpening steel needs to be pre-sharpened.
