Introduction The DMT Aligner Easy Edge sharpening system contains all parts you need to quickly sharpen your knife. The heart of the set is comprised of three diamond-coated sharpening stones. The colour in the famous DMT round pattern shows you which grain size you are dealing with. The set also contains a conical file which can be used to sharpen serrated knives. Experienced sharpeners can also easily use the sharpening stone as is. However, the strength of this system can be found in the guiding system with which everyone will always sharpen their knives using the right angle. It is very simple. You secure the knife in the plastic hold and adjust it to the right sharpening angle with the indented rods. A table will help you find the right position. Afterwards you secure the sharpening stone in the holder that contains the guiding rod. That is when you can start sharpening your knives: the same as you normally would on a sharpening stone. Thanks to the guiding rod that runs through the openings of the holder you will always use the right angle. It doesn’t get any more complicated than that! This is also how you use the conical sharpening steel. The guiding rod can be screwed into the sharpening steel. ## Information about the grain sizes of DMT sharpening stones. The grain size of a diamond-coated stone and a water stone cannot easily be compared. This is because the construction and materials used are substantially different. With a water stone, the sharpening grains are incorporated in the stone. These grains are also released from the stone during use and become some kind of sharpening paste. With a diamond-coated stone, the diamonds are secured in the surface of the stone. The most important thing to keep in mind is that with the extra coarse stone you can restore the edge of the knife and that the sharpening results will be perfect after using all four sharpening stones. ## Good to know With this sharpening system you can decide yourself if you wish to sharpen with or without water. The advantage of sharpening with water is that the stone is lubricated and the sharpening residue is removed. Never use oil, always water. It is also good to know that a diamond-coated sharpening stone must be sharpened as well. A new sharpening stone removes quite a lot of material.
